The Merida eSilex 400 Electric Gravel Bike is designed for an off-road ride with added support for the ultimate adventure machine. The eSilex is the peak of versatility, whether you want to tackle real gravel rides, commute or just take on every day as it comes, this bike is ready for it. The eSilex separates itself from traditional e-bikes in that it looks like your everyday gravel bike thanks to the advanced MAHLE ebikemotion X35+ Rear Hub Motor (40 Nm) which is compact and extremely light so that you have a natural riding experience when you go beyond the 25 km/h maximum support level. Matched with the Mahle B1-C 250Wh Battery which is integrated into the lightweight alloy frame, ensuring that it is more than capable of all day riding.
This setup adds minimal additional drag for an excellent riding experience, while the intelligent software gives you the opportunity to set the support levels at usage-specific levels to set up for your specific riding preferences eg. commuting. Merida has placed the iWOC on/off switch on the top tube to help keep the cockpit tidy, ensuring that it is in reach at all times and in all conditions. This switch is not just an on/off switch but the rider can also toggle between the different support level by pressing the button.
While the e-bike components are impressive it still has impressive spec across the range. It is equipped with the gravel specific 2×10 speed Shimano GRX400 Drivetrain with Hydraulic Disc Brakes for excellent braking control. This gives you the ability to head offroad with confidence and control, swift shifting and performance matched with powerful braking control that can handle all conditions. The eSilex rolls on grippy Maxxis Rambler Tyres with excellent speed and traction, however it has tyre clearance for up to 40mm tyres for a smooth and comfortable ride. This speaks further to the emphasis on comfort and versatility for this bike. If you want to customise this bike to suit your needs it has fixing points for fenders, rear rack and a kickstand for bike packing or even commuting.

1.5 Inch Head Tube: Higher system weights and increased cornering speeds demand precise steering. Our 1 1/2″ oversized head tube, combined with a tapered fork, deliver exactly that, giving the rider the confidence to push into the next corner that little bit harder.
Get Kitted Out: Our e700C LITE frame comes with multiple fixing points, allowing for fenders, rear rack and a kick stand to be fitted. This makes all three models very adaptable in case you want to turn your sporty e-road bike into a fast commuter or touring bike. The eSPEEDER 400 EQ comes fully kitted out as standard – ready for the daily commuting duties.
Plenty of Width: Depending on your preferences or the terrain you are going to ride on, you can fit 700c wheels with up to 40 mm tyres, even when fenders are fitted. If you prefer 650B wheels, then up to 47 mm wide off-road biased tyres are no problem.
Mahle Battery & Motor: The rear hub MAHLE motor system X35+offers 40 Nm of smooth and drag-free support and is powered by a 250 Wh internal battery. The system is controlled by a one-button iWOC switch which is positioned on the top tube. Different colours of the switch indicate the support as well as the battery level.
Go Further: Should the 250 Wh battery not be enough, or you are intending to go for an extra long outing, then you can fit a 250 Wh range extender. The range extender can be attached to one of the bottle cage fixing points and plugs straight into the system for immediate range extension.
What Cables?: All cables are run internally, to give the bike a neat look as well as protect them from moisture and dirt. On our e-road bikes, we go one step further by letting all cables enter the frame through a specific headset cup, making the cockpit super clean and clutter-free.
